Lemon-Honey Whiskey Cocktail

December 23, 2010

I served this as the signature cocktail for my office holiday party, with great success.  Below is the recipe- consider serving this as your post-Christmas dinner drink (or just after a long day…)

Recipe (makes one large pitcher and one happy party)

  • 10 lemons, peeled with a vegetable peeling in wide strips and juiced
  • 1 32 oz container of honey
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1.25 L Maker’s Mark
  • 12-can pack of ginger ale
  • Sliced lemons for garnish

Lemon and Honey, slowly joining forces

Combine lemon peels, juice, honey and water in a large saucepan.  Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.  Cook for 30 minutes.  Allow to cool and then strain.

Combine equal parts whiskey and lemon syrup in a large pitcher (make sure to measure to keep your ratio correct).  Stir to combine.

All the ingredients you need for a good time

Serve in a low ball glass, about 3 oz. of whiskey syrup mix, over ice.  Top off with ginger ale and serve with a slice of lemon.

Hoilday Cocktail time!
