Cranberry Applesauce

Cranberry applesauce is a tangy sweet-savory side to dinner that can also work as a dessert.  This is another good make-ahead dish that can be served reheated or at room temperature.

Prepping the apples


  • 5 lbs. apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 12-oz. package of fresh cranberries
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup sugar, more to taste
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon

Combine the apples, cranberries and cider together in a heavy pot and heat on medium-low until the cranberries and popped and the apples have broken down.

Ready to cook

Whisk the cinnamon and sugar together and add to the applesauce.  Add more sugar if needed.

Finished Applesauce

This could also be canned, just follow the recipe and process in a hot water bath in clean jars for 15 minutes.
